5.4 Users might miss out on important information because of layout (M)

5.4.1 WCAG 1.3.2 (A) - Desktop

On the ‘Circumstances - What has led to this recall’ page on the ‘Make a Recall Recommendation’ journey, users are provided with additional content (‘How has Duncann Cardours responded to probation so far?’) that could help them with their input. However, the presentation and layout of this content on the page might cause users to miss this information.

This could affect different user groups: - The whitespace between the main input text and the additional content could affect users accessing the site using screen magnification software - Similarly, when browser zoom is applied, the additional content is displayed below the main input text and the ‘Continue’ button. Users might fill in the main input and proceed with the journey without noticing the additional content. - Screen readers announce the additional content after the ‘Continue’ button. Users would not expect content to be presented after this and are likely to interact with this button without accessing the additional content.

Change the layout of the content so that the information would not be missed. We suggest implementing an accordion element titled ‘A previous related question’ above the input field.
