Executive Summary

It is important to the Ministry of Justice that they have a clear understanding of any accessibility issues for users of their website. User Vision was commissioned to perform an accessibility audit of the Making Recall Decisions system.

The aim of the audit is to determine whether there are any accessibility barriers remaining on the site. It is designed to capture any issues so that the Ministry of Justice can make sure that the application can be used by the widest possible audience by complying with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) V2.1 Level A and Level AA.

The audit for Journey 1 was carried out on desktop (using NVDA), iPhone and iPad (using VoiceOver) and Android (using TalkBack). The Google feedback form was also tested on all these devices. On desktop, the pages were tested on Google Chrome and Edge, using manual and automated testing software.

The audit for Journeys 2 and 3 were also tested on desktop, on Google Chrome and Edge. The Word documents downloaded at the end of each journey were audited using desktop-based screen readers as well as Word’s Immersive Reader.
